Purple Valley Productions provides creative and technical opportunities for students to collaborate in the production of short films, in order to educate students about the technical process and foster an appreciation for the medium of film in both the Williams College campus and the broader community.
PVP was founded in the Spring of 2024 with the goal of building a dedicated filmmaking community at Williams - something that until that point, the school lacked. Since then, the club has amassed over 100 members! We recognize that the best educational tools are mentorship and practice, and this philosophy guides our filmmaking process. If you join Purple Valley Productions, even with no experience, you can expect to work on multiple sets in your time at Williams.
Film sets are high pressure environments so what cannot be taught on set is taught through student run workshops and training.
While our films are ambitious, membership of PVP is what you want to make of it. There is no requirement to work on any films or to attend workshops; however, when assembling teams, producers favor interest and passion, especially for more crucial roles such as director and cinematographer.
While the club is entirely student run, we rely on support from Williams for funding, facilities, and technical resources. Our partnership is ever strengthening and PVP is proud to be an advocate for increased support for independent arts at Williams.
For more detailed information about the club's structure, read our constitution.
