The passing on of knowledge is one of the most important pillars of PVP. Throughout the year, experienced members will host workshops and trainings, teaching members about many aspects of the production process such as cinematography, editing, and sound design. During Winter Study, PVP offers a Free University class open to all. Make sure to check the calendar, GroupMe, and emails for info about these workshops.
The culmination of a film production is always a screening, first for the cast and crew, and then for the Williams community. Along with the club's own work, PVP coordinates screenings with the colleges film classes, typically weekly at Images Cinema. PVP also submits our films to the Berkshire Student Film Festival hosted by Images each spring.
Throughout the year, PVP hosts numerous events for club members and the greater Williams community. These may include Q&As with industry professionals, 48 Hour film challenges, and more.

January 2025
This comprehensive workshop offers students hands-on experience in film production with a focus on practical and technical elements, guiding participants through every stage of creating a cinematic scene, recreating a scene from a well known Hollywood film. The class will be divided into workshops covering script breakdown, pre-production for cinematographers, cinema camera operation and sound recording, on-set production, editing, and color grading. The course culminates with a final screening session, where students present their own edited scenes and receive feedback. No prior film experience is required, making this course an ideal opportunity for students interested in gaining practical skills for future Purple Valley Productions. The course will be taught by several members of the PVP board and will meet twice a week for approximately an hour and a half during winter study.
Schedule: Wednesday/Friday 7-8:30pm during Winter Study excluding Jan. 31st
