Deadline: Tuesday, January 21st @ 11:59 PM EST
Submit your screenplay anonymously here: Spring 2025 Submissions
Important guidelines and details to follow:
Format:
Screenwriting software (such as CeltX, Trelby, and Final Draft) is recommended. CeltX and Trelby are free and can be downloaded on their websites. *If you are not using a designated software, please make sure it is set to the screenplay format.*
No names! All submissions will be read blind, so do not put your name on the screenplay.
Include a logline on the title page of your script. A logline is a one-sentence synopsis of your script. Some examples.
You can submit more than one script; just make sure they are all correctly formatted.
MUST submit as a PDF
Length
Ideally, the screenplay should be 5-15 pages (excluding the title page).
A minimum of 5 pages is recommended and any scripts over 25 pages will not be accepted. *Note that exceedingly long scripts carry the risks of lowering producibility*
Creative Statement (optional)
While not required, we encourage you to include a brief statement (3-5 sentences) explaining why you want to tell this story. This can be filled out on the submission form.
Producibility
We all enjoy a great, original story and encourage you to submit your best, most imaginative ideas—but we will also consider their feasibility.
Be mindful of things like locations, budgets, logistics, etc.
Fewer locations is more producible
Good locations are easily accessible
Smaller casts are more producible
Think about characters' ages, races, and other identity markers: could PVP easily find actors that match your characters?
Think about what choreography and special effects we can realistically do
Intimacy and violence are possible, but can be difficult. Think about what is reasonable to ask college actors to do and whether a scene is necessary to the script.
While we have a dedicated and passionate team eager to bring stories to life, producibility will be an important factor in our selection process.
Directing
The director for each film is a separate role. If your screenplay is selected and you would like to direct it, you have to apply separately as a director.
In the director application process, priority is not given to those who submitted the selected screenplays.
**IMPORTANT** If your screenplay is selected for production, it is subject to revisions to ensure a feasible production. You must be open to meeting with submitting your script(s), you are giving PVP access to its content and the opportunity to make it into a film.
